Hey there, I'm Jeremy Giovannetti.
I'm an Abstract Artist and Creative Director based in Taos, New Mexico.

In my work, everything I create is grounded in an obsession with the natural world and a desire to communicate the beauty and gratitude for this place we get to live.

My inspiration is derived from the color palettes, compositions, and patterns revealed to us when see the earth from another perspective, from directly above.

I work primarily in mixed media on wood panels. My artistic process attempts to employ the same forces that shaped the land the work is inspired by.

That is, air, water, gravity, and heat.

Through this creative process, I get to dip my toe in the immeasurable perfection of the ground we stand on and the cycles that comprise it.

Who I am

I am an abstract artist who has been painting for over 10 years. I work primarily in acrylics and resin on wood, but I also work in digital illustration and aerial photography. My processes and mediums continue to evolve, but at its foundation is a desire to immerse myself in the natural world and to communicate the infinite perfection of this place we get to live.

I am Creative Director at an agency named Primitive, where I lead our Creative team in a wide range of projects from branding to mini documentaries. I am privileged to say I truly love my job and the folks I get to work with. I am very proud of the work we produce.

I was born in Lubbock, Texas, and I graduated from Texas Tech University. In my time at TTU, I was able to learn across many creative disciplines, including User Experience Design, Web Design, Advertising, Visual Communication, and Interaction Design. The design world has always been a good balance for me in contrast to the more squishy and less defined art world.

These days I live and have my studio in Valdez, New Mexico with my fiancé and 3 dogs. I am endlessly grateful to be  surrounded by the same New Mexican beauty and western landscapes that inspire my work.

The story from the sky

I have always been obsessed with the earth from above. When I say obsessed I mean it, this centers around specifically maps, topography, and natural sciences. I think at the core of this is an appreciation for the land and the ancient natural processes that shape it.

My work is rooted in the patterns, color palettes, compositions, and forms derived from mostly aerial imagery. I use satellite imagery, drone photography, and my own eyes as the rooting for my pieces, sometimes going as far as including coordinates along with my signature.

I find deep peace in emulating these flows and forms, and that means attempting to replicate the same processes and forces that did the shaping.

My process

Gathering inspiration for my work starts with scouting locations with mapping software and satellite imagery like Google Earth. I then go out and take various shots with my drone and this also serves as an opportunity to feel the place and its personality.

In order to capture the flows and forms of the natural world, the evolution in my process has led me to painting with the same forces shaping the land. This means I am painting using water, wind, heat, and gravity. I will leave it up to your imagine exactly how this plays out.

I will just say it has been an evolution over years of understanding the paint, the forces, and myself.

Right now, I am exclusively focused on the landscapes of Northern New Mexico and the forms and flows of the high desert. I have 2 pieces in progress that are a study into the colorful geology and ancient erosion of the Chama Canyon Wilderness outside of Abiquiu, NM.

Prismatic

Plaster • Acrylic • resin | wood Panel

This piece is really one of my favorites. The subject is grand prismatic spring in Yellowstone National Park. The colors and form are both vivid and recognizable, resulting in something people can immediately identify.
